This is the TV set for the Canadian show Pit Pony shot near North Sydney, Nova Scotia. I took the photos in 2008. The set included a town, outbuildings, houses and the mock coal mine entrance. Even the coal pile is gravel covered in a thin layer of coal. I’m not sure if the remains are still there. At the time you could park nearby and walk all around the place with no problem.

From Wiki: Pit Pony is a 1999 CBC television series which tells the story of small-town life in Glace Bay, on the island of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia in 1904. The plot line revolves around the lives of the families of the men and boys who work in the coal mines.
